Antisemitism in Local Authorities

Bury Council

International Definition of Antisemitism

The Council has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on 19th April 2017, with a further clarification on 22nd January 2020 that the examples were intended to be included. This clarification came following contact from Campaign Against Antisemitism.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 26th July 2021, to which the Council responded on 24th August 2021.

As part of its response, the Council provided minutes of a Council meeting on 19th April 2017 and clarification in minutes of a Council meeting on 22nd January 2020, which show that the Definition was adopted.
