Chelmsford City Council

International Definition of Antisemitism

The Council has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on 17th December 2018.

The Council has told Campaign Against Antisemitism: “…the Council Leader agreed for the Council to adopt the IHRA’s working definition and its examples with the agreement of the Chief Executive”.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 9th August 2021, to which the Council responded on 1st September 2021. On 22nd November 2022, the Council updated its response.

The Council published its Equality Objectives on its website on 22nd September 2022, which confirmed adoption of the Definition.
