Antisemitism in Local Authorities

LONDON COUNCILS

International Definition of Antisemitism

London Councils has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on 20th November 2018.

London Councils has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it does apply the Definition in disciplinary matters.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 18th July 2021, to which London Councils responded on 17th August 2021. On 6th June 2022, London Councils updated its response.

As part of its response, London Councils provided its Equal Opportunities Policy 2019 and minutes of its Corporate Management Board meeting on 20th November 2018, which show that the Definition was adopted.

Incidents

No incidents relating to the Council’s officials or councillors have been reported to us, however we recognise that antisemitism is chronically underreported and it is possible that there are incidents that have not been reported. To report an incident, please contact us.
