Antisemitism in Local Authorities

North of Tyne Combined Authority

International Definition of Antisemitism

The Authority has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on 6th June 2023.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 30th March 2023, to which the Council responded on 27th April 2023. On 7th July 2023, the Authority updated its response.

As part of its response, the Authority provided minutes of a Cabinet meeting on 6th June 2023 and its Equalities and Diversity Policy, which show that the Definition was adopted.

Incidents

No incidents relating to the Council’s officials or councillors have been reported to us, however we recognise that antisemitism is chronically underreported and it is possible that there are incidents that have not been reported. To report an incident, please contact us.
