The Council has not adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.
This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 19th June 2024, to which the Council responded on 2nd July 2024.
The following are recent incidents relating to the Council’s officials or councillors that have been reported to us, however we recognise that antisemitism is chronically underreported and it is possible that there are incidents that have not been reported. To report an incident, please contact us.
Labour Party refused to back incumbent Councillor John Edwards at local elections for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
Campaign Against Antisemitism investigation revealed antisemitism and problematic social media activity from Labour’s councillors at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
After pressure from Campaign Against Antisemitism, Councillor Yvonne Davies, Leader of Sandwell Council was suspended by the Labour Party pending an investigation and resigned from her leadership role.
