Antisemitism in Local Authorities

Surrey Heath Borough Council

International Definition of Antisemitism

The Council appears to have adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 30th April 2022, to which the Council responded on 12th May 2022.

The Council told Campaign Against Antisemitism that adoption was due to come before the Council in July 2022.

Cabinet minutes  of a meeting on 16th August 2022, noted a recommendation to the Council to adopt the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples. As at the 5th September 2022, the Council meeting has not taken place. A search of the Council’s website shows the next full Council meeting will take place on 26th October 2022.

Incidents

No incidents relating to the Council’s officials or councillors have been reported to us, however we recognise that antisemitism is chronically underreported and it is possible that there are incidents that have not been reported. To report an incident, please contact us.
