Extremism rife in the NHS

Recently, we published our documentary titled ‘Malignant: Antisemitism in the NHS’. You can watch it here. In the wake of the film’s release, we are providing more information about the problem of anti-Jewish racism in the health sector.

Today, we are providing further examples of shocking rhetoric from select registered medical professionals, underscoring that this is not merely a case of a few bad apples.

Fatimah Mohamied

Fatimah Mohamied is a midwife registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Her last-known place of work is the Queen Mary Maternity Unit at West Middlesex Hospital in London, where she was listed as a ‘cultural safety champion’ in March 2023. She resigned in March 2024.

• 7th October 2023: On a now locked X account, in response to a post claiming “Palestinians have a right to resist their occupation- we have a right to support them. It’s that simple”, she wrote: “Hell yeah!!!”
• 7th October 2023: On a now locked X account, she asked “Would you take abuse lying down, for years and years and years? If you never retaliated, never resisted, would you respect yourself?”
• Approx. 28th December 2023: In a now-deleted blog post, she equated her “resistance” to parental violence to the “resistance” of Palestinians on 7th October, declaring it “a resistance I support with pride”.
• Approx. 24th January 2025: In a now-deleted blog post, she shared an e-mail to the Midwifery Forum in which she wrote: “Jewish cultural safety is not the issue here,  that is a real and necessary thing for Jewish families. The problem lies in using Jewish cultural safety as a smokescreen to propagate colonialism, occupation, apartheid and genocide as somehow acceptable. The problem here are the Zionist speakers you hold no qualm or shame to platform.”
• Approx. 12th September 2025: In a now-deleted blog post, she quoted her speech delivered at a ‘Nurses for Palestine’ vigil: “In October 2023 I tweeted support for the right of Palestinians to resist their occupation, and how we have the right to support them, linking resistance of oppression and abuse with self respect.”

Zaida Parveen Akhtar

Zaida Akhtar is an occupational therapist at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. She also works as a make-up artist. On Facebook she goes by the name Zee Zidane.

At the 2024 ViP (Values in Practice) Awards organised by the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Akhtar was a finalist (video link) for the Adult Community Services Divisional Superstar award. According to the Trust’s website, these awards “recognised individuals and teams who had showed outstanding commitment to the Trust’s values”: being caring, open, respectful, responsible and inclusive.

• 3rd July 2025 (removed from TikTok): She posted a video appearing to call for violence against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son: “If you do see that face […] Roadman, you know what to do. Sort out this waste”. She adds “Get your jutiya off”, a Punjabi word meaning slipper or shoe, an apparent slang reference calling for a beating. She further commented here and here.
• 21st September 2025: She reposted an image by former MEP Mick Wallace who said that the US “votes for the Genocide to continue” and that it supports the “Genocidal Zionist Settler Colonial Project in Palestine”, accompanied by an image of a US delegate with devil horns and blood around her mouth performing a Nazi salute.
• 16th December 2025: She reposted a video which describes the December 2025 Bondi Beach attack as a “false flag”, and claims that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel “benefited the most from 9/11”. It concludes that those who benefit from terror attacks are the “demonic elite” that plans them.

Abdelaal Ragheb Elfarra (aka Dr Abed Alfarra)

Dr Elfarra is an emergency medicine and family medicine GP in the Accident and Emergency Department at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds (part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust).

He is originally from Gaza and lived in Spain for many years before coming to work in the UK in 2012. On Linkedin his name is Abdelaal Ragheb Elfarra, but on his other social media accounts (X; Facebook; Instagram) he goes by the name Abed Alfarra.

Dr Elfarra can be identified in several videos, in which he expresses the following hateful rhetoric:

• 1st April 2025: Dr Elfarra can be seen chanting: “We don’t want no Zionists here” along with other marchers
• 1st April 2025: Dr Elfarra can be seen giving a speech in which he says: “Zionists control the media. Zionists control the world … We are the Nakba survivor. Is that similar to the Holocaust survivor? Yes. … And what Israel is doing in Gaza is not ethnic cleansing. It’s extermination!”
• 20th April 2025: Dr Elfarra can be seen leading a march while marchers chant “Intifada! Revolution”. Intifadas have historically been campaigns of murderous terrorism targeting Jews.

He has also published and reposted multiple incendiary posts on social media:

• 20th October 2023: He posted a graphic showing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu wearing a bloodied apron and holding a knife over a sleeping child in a hospital bed. This reflects the antisemitic blood libel that Jews are child-killers who drink the blood of children. In this context, the civilian casualties in Gaza are interpreted as a matter of Israeli state policy to deliberately target and murder children.
• 11th June 2024: Repost of a post that claims that Hamas treated the hostages well and describes Hamas as “people who, while defending their land and beliefs, never abandon their humanity”.

Several reposts refer to the conspiracy theory that Zionists control America, as well as antisemitic Rothschild conspiracy theories:

• 26th July 2024: Repost of a post that describes the Rothschild family as the “most wealthiest and influential family, believed to control all the world’s money”.
• 11th August 2024: Repost of a post that says “Elon Musk is controlled by Zionists”.
• 1st March 2025: Instagram post showing Joe Biden being controlled by strings below an Israeli flag, with the caption, “The Israeli puppet”. This refers to the antisemitic conspiracy that Zionists control America.

He often refers to Hamas as “the Resistance” and uses an inverted red triangle. The inverted red triangle and its emoji variant have been used by some anti-Israel activists to signal support for proscribed terrorist organisations such as Hamas, inspired by the appearance of the symbol in Hamas propaganda videos to indicate targets for attack.

• 21st February 2025: Posted a video of the Temple Mount complex with a red triangle in the caption, and the words “We will stay here whether you like it or not, and the invaders will leave us as those before them did. Your appointment is soon”. Hamas named their 7th October 2023 terrorist operation “Al Aqsa Flood”, in reference to the Temple Mount.
• 31st December 2023: There are several examples from this date.

He frequently compares Israel to the Nazis. According to the International Definition of Antisemitism, “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” is an example of antisemitism.

• Date unknown: He says “Zionists are the new Nazis of the last 100 years” and are “Supported by Genocidal army and his servants”
• 21st October 2023: Questions the difference between the actions of the Nazis and those of Israel
• 6th February 2024: Repost of quote by Norman Finklestein which asks, in reference to Israel: “Do concentration camp guards have the right to self-defence?”
• 27th November 2024: He refers to Israel (or the IDF) as “Nazi genociders”, as well as saying that the British Prime Minister “prioritises Zionism above his ministerial duties to Britain”
• 20th December 2024: Reposted: “Israelis are worse than Nazis”.
• 27th April (2026): He compares Gaza to the Holocaust, sharing infographics which describe the conflict in Gaza as “not a Genocide anymore […] It’s a Holocaust”. He says the situation “meets the full, horrifying definition of a holocaust” due to “The scale of destruction, the deliberate targeting of civilians, the attempt to erase an entire people”.
• Unknown date: Further examples.

Ahmed Sewehli

Dr Ahmed Sewehli is a Manchester-based registered psychiatrist and member of Healthworkers for Palestine.

• 7th March 2026: Replying to a BBC article titled “Dozens killed as Israeli special forces raid Lebanese village in search of 40-year-old remains”: “Israel must be bombed by the international community. Who the F do they think they are massacring people EVERYWHERE!”
• 29th September 2025: Replying to a post by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign which read: “BREAKING: Huge defeat for the Government as Labour conference votes that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The resolution accepts the UN Commission of Inquiry report and demands sanctions and a full arms embargo. The Government must list and act. Stop arming Israel now!” he wrote: “The leadership of the Party are agents of Israel. They are not true Labour. They do not put Britain first. They are completely out of touch with the membership. There should be an investigation into why this is @UKLabour.”
• 9th May 2025: replying to a post, he wrote: “You’re a terrorist supporter and Trump is destroying your own country, meanwhile the rest of the world will deal with Israel. Zionism is the ideology of terror, mass murder, displacement and depravity. In fact, ISIS is learning new acts of depravity from the IDF terrorists you support.”
• 21st April 2025: Replying to a post by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister: “You need to be dead.”
• 25th March 2025: Replying to a post which read: “The spokesperson for the Jewish Board of Deputies seeks to smear a murdered journalist on whose back he helped pin a target. Do these people never listen to themselves?” he wrote: “Are they saying that if a journalist lies he should be killed by missile? They should call themselves the Board of Jewish Terrorists.”
• 16th January 2025: “Israel has murdered nearly a hundred people since yesterday including another doctor and her family. Yet the BBC reports that ‘Israel is saying’ that Hamas is reneging on the ceasefire deal! When will this blatant Zionist propaganda stop at the BBC??”
• 21st November 2024: “Netanyahu should be dead and then they wouldn’t have had to issue an arrest warrant for him either. How’s that?”
• 29th October 2024: “Starmer wants to increase bus fare in the UK to fund British armed forces aircraft missions supporting the IDF. For Starmer, Israel comes first and the British people come second. He can find money to support a genocide but has no money for ordinary British people.”
• 29th April 2024: Replying to an opinion piece in The JC: “They are now saying it loud and clear. If you are anti-Israel then you are antisemitic. Even if you yourself are a Jew. Zionist extremists who are full of hate for humans. They are anti-human.”
• 15th January 2024: “Keir Starmer: ‘JLM made me. JLM owns me, I won’t do anything without JLM telling me’. I mean he couldn’t have been clearer.” JLM is the Jewish Labour Movement, the Jewish affiliate of the Labour Party.
• 7th March 2023: “Have people noticed that because many Zionists have watered down the term antisemite with their misuse of it, they have dropped the term altogether and have decided to use the term ‘Jew hatred’. It’s very obvious.”

Nadim Crowne

Nadim Crowe (sometimes he spells his first name as “Nadeem”) is a British-Jordanian doctor who worked for many years as an NHS bank worker specialising in emergency medicine at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

In August 2024, after a complaint against him he was suspended by the Royal Free Hospital. He deleted his social media accounts and was reinstated. He resigned from the hospital and the NHS and is now taking the hospital to an employment tribunal.

• 17th April 2025: Repost of a post which reads: “Zionism is the only ideology where stealing land, bombing hospitals, sniping civilians, and burning children alive is called “self-defense”–but throwing a rock at a tank is “terrorism.”
• 4th April 2025: Replying to a post by the American Jewish Committee criticising equations of Gaza to the Holocaust, he wrote: “This is exactly what must be opposed. The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy but it does not somehow trump any other mass killing just because we are told it must. This is a means to justify mass extermination of  Arabs through minimising their deaths. Furthermore an inherited trauma does not trump those who are going through trauma right now with bombs dropping on their heads. We are all over this narrative and accusations of anti-semitism when we mourn the murder of Arabs who have been dispossessed and occupied. Enough is enough.”
• 22nd March 2025: “The reason is totally clear to me. Zionism is an insidious evil that IS controlling every single one of us, internationally. There is an international “importance” relating to “Israel” that isn’t yet clear to the layman but that means there is no option but to let it destroy all of us. I think the world knows that if anyone takes any other stance it will result in Armageddon and that is a completely terrifying reality. I tend to believe most people are inherently good but that there is a threat so powerful that even good has become evil.”
• 6th July 2025: “Why does this country permit @chiefrabbi to keep speaking as he does? He is an absolute risk to Arabs and Muslims and should be investigated by @metpoliceuk”
• 3rd July 2025: “There is no doubt that Israel is a terrorist octopus with its head in Israel and tentacles far reaching into every continent.”
• 16th April 2025, replying to a post: “I find this really frightening reading. This is particularly because the Jewish Medical Association has been responsible for doctors being suspended by the GMC and because the executive chairman of the JMA is Prof. David Katz who is a member of Chabad. @FranckMagennis is there any legal action we can take on this?”

Stephen Silverman, Director of Investigations and Enforcement at Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: “Our documentary on antisemitism in the NHS revealed how extremism is becoming rife in medicine, with employers and regulators failing to rein in radicalised doctors and nurses. These are yet more examples of the hate in healthcare that the authorities are doing nothing about. What is happening in British medicine is a national disgrace. Jewish people may be feeling the effects most keenly, but nobody wants to be treated by unhinged extremists. It’s past time that the authorities address the crisis.”
