University of Brighton

University Definition not adopted

The University has not adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.

The University has told Campaign Against Antisemitism: “A Race and Faith commission was set up following discussions at the Academic Board and Board of Governors on the subject of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism. The Commission recommended that the University should not adopt the definition…”

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 12th June 2023. On 20th June 2023, the University responded.

When asked on 8th August 2020, Brighton Students’ Union failed to confirm whether it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.
