The University has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.
The Definition was adopted on 3rd June 2020.
This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 9th July 2020. On 24th July 2020, the University responded.
As part of its response, the University provided its Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy dated June 2020, updated November 2023, which shows that the Definition was included within the policy. The University has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that: “The illustrative examples [from the Definition] are scheduled to be published on our staff intranet before the start of the next academic year.”
When asked about adoption of the International Definition of Antisemitism on 3rd August 2020, Leeds Arts Union referred to the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
No incidents have been reported to us, however we recognise that antisemitism is chronically underreported and it is possible that there are incidents that have not been reported. To report an incident, please contact us.
