Investigation launched following allegations of former policeman’s conspiratorial posts about Jews and Israel
An investigation has been launched following the allegation that Rizwan Mustafa, the founding Chair of the West Midlands branch of the National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP), published incendiary posts relating to Jews and Israel.
Mr Mustafa reportedly shared content that called for the destruction of Israel and asked: “Where is the Caliph of the Muslims? Don’t you care that the Jews are defiling the place of the prophet’s nocturnal journey with their filth? The Jews are the most hostile people towards the believers.”
He also allegedly “shared conspiracy theories” about the origins of Al Qaeda and Islamic State.
A former policeman, Mr Mustafa was reportedly in charge of training new recruits.
The disturbing findings were released in the recent report on the Government’s Prevent strategy. The report was headed by William Shawcross, who was appointed as the Independent Reviewer of Prevent in January 2021.
Simon Foster, the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, has now announced the launch of an investigation into Mr Mustafa.
In a tweet, Mr Foster said: “I am deeply concerned about this matter and am treating it with the utmost seriousness.
“I have immediately requested that West Midlands Police conduct an investigation into this matter and report to me as a matter of urgency, so that I can then determine the best course of action, based on the outcome of that investigation.”
