Pope Francis has written and published a letter to Israeli Jews condemning antisemitism and calling it a “sin against God”.
Part of the letter stated that the Church “rejects every form of anti-Judaism and antisemitism, unequivocally condemning manifestations of hatred towards Jews and Judaism as a sin against God”.
It also read: “Together with you, we, Catholics, are very concerned about the terrible increase in attacks against Jews around the world. We had hoped that ‘never again’ would be a refrain heard by the new generations.”
The pope also called for the release of hostages who were taken in Hamas’ barbaric attack on 7th October last year.
During the attack, terrorists murdered over 1,200 people and took some 250 hostage. The day has been described as the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.
