Newcastle College

University Definition adopted

Newcastle College is the only member of the New College Group (NCG) that can award degrees.

NCG has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism, including the examples, but it has not provided evidence to support its claim.

NCG said that the Definition was adopted in February 2020.

NCG told Campaign Against Antisemitism: “All individuals within NCG, including colleagues, learners, customers and governors are responsible to ensure the proper observation of the principles of this Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy. In particular, this relates to the treatment of others so that the environment in which we operate is, as much as possible, free from prejudice and discrimination”.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 9th July 2020. On 20th July 2020, NCG responded.

When asked on 12th August 2020, Newcastle College Students’ Union failed to confirm whether it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.
