The University has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.
The Definition was adopted on 4th March 2020.
This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 10th July 2020. On 5th January 2021, the University responded.
As part of its response, the University provided minutes of a meeting of its Senate on 4th March 2020, which show that the Definition was adopted.
Newcastle University Students’ Union confirmed on 7th April 2022, that it adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, on 21st October 2021. The Students’ Union provided a copy of the Policy of Students’ Union Council which shows that the Definition was adopted. On 22nd June 2026, the Students’ Union provided an updated Policy of Students’ Union Council which confirms the Definition was adopted.
