The University has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.
The University said that the Definition was adopted on 9th July 2019.
The University told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it does apply the Definition in disciplinary matters.
This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 14th July 2020. On 6th August 2020, the University responded.
As part of its response, the University provided Council minutes of a meeting on 9th July 2019, which state that the Definition was adopted but only cited the introductory paragraph of the Definition.
The University told Campaign Against Antisemitism: “The University adopts the IHRA definition of antisemitism, as set out in the Student Conduct Policy. While the Policy does not explicitly refer to the accompanying illustrative examples, the University may use these examples for guidance where appropriate.”
This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 17th June 2026. On 13th July 2026, the University responded.
When asked on 11th August 2020, Liverpool Guild of Students failed to confirm whether it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.
