University of Liverpool

University Definition adopted

The University has said that it adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism on 26th June 2019, but it was not clear from the University’s response whether the examples were adopted.

The University has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it does apply the Definition in disciplinary matters.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 14th July 2020. On 6th August 2020, the University responded.

As part of its response, the University provided minutes of a meeting of its Senate on 26th June 2019, which state that the Definition was adopted but only cited the introductory paragraph of the Definition.

When asked on 11th August 2020, Liverpool Guild of Students failed to confirm whether it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism.
