Incident Liaison Officer

Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) is the UK’s leading organisation fighting antisemitism nationwide. We aim to assist members of the British Jewish community in reporting antisemitic crime to the relevant authorities, pursuing criminal cases through to resolution, and offering a layer of support and a consistent point of contact for the victim.

Our volunteer Incident Liaison Officers work with victims and witnesses throughout the process. The people who contact our Incident Liaison Unit often reach out to us in a time of distress, and you will be the first person from CAA that they hear from, staying involved in each case and building a relationship.

We also offer support to members of the public who want to report antisemitic incidents of any kind, even if they are not criminal offences. This would include antisemitism in the traditional media, on social media, at university, in the workplace or in any other arena.

As an Incident Liaison Officer, you will:

All volunteers should be up to date and aware of current affairs particularly relating to antisemitism.

Communication with witnesses and victims: Our Incident Liaison Officers are responsible for liaising with members of the public. You will have a high level of proficiency in English, be able to write clearly and precisely, and will be able to communicate with member of the public who may be distressed in a friendly, empathetic and professional telephone manner.

You must be able to identify incidents of antisemitism where present and must have the ability to question, investigate and write reports on such incidents in a clear and professional manner. You will need to be confident with modern technology such as social media platforms, which you may need to review to understand the full context of particular cases. Being an active team member: Although this is a volunteer role with an expected weekly commitment requirement of four to six hours, the Incident Liaison Unit holds weekly meetings which you will need to attend as regularly as possible. Incident Liaison Officers act as consistent points of contact for cases that they handle, so although it is not required that you are active every day, it will be important that you are able to make yourself available at multiple points throughout the week to ensure that victims and witnesses do not have to wait too long to receive updates from you as their cases progress.
