CAA joins the Gail’s Protest outside The Guardian

Gail’s Protest Outside The Guardian

We joined the protest outside The Guardian‘s offices in London, following the newspaper’s recent ludicrous and dreadful column, written by Jonathan Liew, which portrays something as trivial as the opening of a Gail’s in north London as some sort of Jewish supremacist aggressor crushing independent Arab business in Archway.

The protest today was organised by our friends at OurFightUK.

This was just the latest in The Guardian’s persistent hostile output that has the effect of encouraging animosity towards Jews.

Our polling of the Jewish community shows that, among newspapers, The Guardian scores the worst, with nearly seven in ten – 69% – of British Jews describing its coverage of matters of Jewish interest as unfavourable.

Sadly, this newspaper has travelled so far that it may well now regard this as a badge of honour.

Whilst we were there, we asked those in the crowd – including comedian and presenter Josh Howie and Mark Birbeck of OurFightUK – why they felt it was important to take a stand. You can listen to their responses in our video here.

Clearly, British Jews and their allies have had enough.
