International Definition of Antisemitism

The Council has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on 17th January 2018.

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on 20th June 2024, to which the Council responded on 19th July 2024.

As part of its response, the Council provided minutes of a Council meeting on 17th January 2018, which show that the Definition was adopted.

The Council has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism in full, including all of its examples.

The Definition was adopted on [DATE].

The Council has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it [does/does not] apply the Definition in disciplinary matters, confirming that: “[QUOTATION]”.

[The Council has incorporated the Definition into its Members’ Code of Conduct.]

This information was obtained after Campaign Against Antisemitism submitted a request under the [Freedom of Information Act 2000/Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002] on [DATE], to which the Council responded on [DATE].

As part of its response, the Council provided [minutes of a Council meeting] on [DATE], which show that the Definition was adopted. Additionally, the Council published a statement on its website on [DATE].

The Council has told Campaign Against Antisemitism that it has adopted the International Definition of Antisemitism, but it has not provided evidence to support its claim. It was not clear from the Council’s response whether the examples were adopted.
