Police are investigating a potential hate crime after a Holocaust memorial in Plymouth was discovered damaged last month.
It is understood that the alleged incident took place at the Peace Garden on Plymouth Hoe between 21:00 on 29th January and 10:00 the following day.
It appears that the memorial stone was damaged in an attempt to remove it from the plaque. The memorial is dedicated to “all victims of genocide”.
If you have any more information, please contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 50250024550.
Campaign Against Antisemitism’s analysis of Home Office statistics shows that an average of just under nine hate crimes are directed at Jews every single day in England and Wales, with Jews more than twelve times likelier to be targets of hate crimes than any other faith group.
