Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) is the UK’s leading organisation fighting antisemitism nationwide. In order to ensure that the law, especially in relation to terrorism legislation, is enforced at protests, rallies and events around the country, we require Event Monitors to attend events and gather photographic or audio evidence of breaches of terrorism legislation and the International (IHRA) Definition of Antisemitism.
As an Event Monitor you will:
- Attend events around the country identified by our Event Monitoring team;
- Gather photographic evidence of criminal activity, offences under terrorism legislation or breaches of the International Definition of Antisemitism; and
- Rapidly submit this material back to our Event Monitoring team for it to be properly utilised by our Investigations and Enforcement Unit and Communications team.
Ideal candidates for this position are robust and confident, able to walk up to strangers and strike up conversation. Candidates must be keen to support CAA on the front lines, interacting with members of the public who may harbour antisemitic views whilst being careful to maintain composure and an incognito status at events. Candidates must have a good understanding of antisemitism, both historical and contemporary, along with familiarity with CAA’s goals as an organisation, capable of picking out items carefully in accordance with the International Definition of Antisemitism. Successful applicants do not require any experience in photography or technology, but must be able to operate smartphones and cameras fluently, taking high quality images with good focus in busy environments and quickly and discreetly feeding this information back to colleagues at CAA.
